Whitman County primary election results finalized

Chad Whetzel led the Whitman County primary election with 1,760 votes, moving forward alongside challengers Cody Finch and Tucker J. Senter. In Pullman, Bryan MacDonald received 680 votes, edging out John-Mark Mahnkey for the City Council Ward 1 seat. Tawny Szumlas and John Cassleman will compete for the Ward 3 position, where Szumlas garnered 302 votes. The Pullman School Board elections featured Deena Bayoumi and Hannah Martian, who advanced for District 4, while Stephanie A.

Horn and Brandon Kruger unseated incumbent Amanda Tanner for District 5. The Tekoa City Council election resulted in Cheri Currier losing her position to Reid A. Smith and Adam Matthews. Only Lamont School District's educational programs levy passed among two proposed levies, with a close vote of 29 to 16. This levy will provide $132,000 over two years, funded by homeowner taxes.

Whitman County recorded a voter turnout of 28. 58%, with 5,541 ballots cast from 19,386 registered voters.
