Trib driver injured in crash near Rosalia
A semitruck driver, Eugene “Pat” Long, 75, was injured in a crash on U. S. Highway 195 near Rosalia, Washington, early Wednesday morning. Long swerved to avoid a deer around 2:45 a. m.
, causing his truck to crash through a guardrail and roll down an embankment. He was airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane and is expected to make a full recovery. Long was transporting bundles of newspapers for local publications, including the Inlander, Newport Miner, and Chewelah Independent, printed at a facility in Lewiston. Tribune Editor Nathan Alford emphasized the importance of community support for Long and mentioned that employees rushed to the crash site to salvage the newspapers. If any bundles cannot be recovered, the Tribune will reprint them to meet demand.
