Injured firefighter looks to return home soon

Pullman, WALocal News

Justin Shaw, a firefighter injured by a falling tree during the Coffee Can Saddle Fire near Riggins, is optimistic about returning home this fall after suffering a traumatic brain injury. Since the incident, he has lived in hospital and rehabilitation facilities, where he continues to make daily progress. His family is working to modify their home to be ADA compliant, which will enable him to move safely within the space. The modifications include making doorways wider and eliminating the need for stairs. Shaw's parents have expressed gratitude for the support received from organizations such as the Wildland Firefighter Foundation and the community.

They encourage continued prayers and letters of encouragement for Shaw. Contributions for the home remodel can be made via a designated fundraising site. Shaw will continue outpatient rehab therapies upon returning to Boise.
