Pullman chooses Wells for city administrator

Pullman, WALocal News

Pullman has chosen Sean Wells as its next city administrator, pending confirmation by the City Council on August 26. Wells has worked as the public works director since 2023 and has extensive engineering experience with various Washington cities. He will replace Mike Urban, whose resignation has been surrounded by controversy, with Urban claiming he was terminated rather than resigning. Urban faced accusations earlier this year but was exonerated in April, and the city is now negotiating an agreement to settle employment-related disputes. Wells holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University and is a licensed professional engineer.

His selection follows a thorough search led by Prothman Company, which included community engagement and interviews with city officials. This transition in leadership comes at a time of scrutiny regarding the city's administrative processes. The outcome of the City Council vote will determine the direction of Pullman's governance.
