Man arrested after allegedly firing pistol

Shawn T. Johnson, 58, remains in Nez Perce County Jail after allegedly firing a pistol at another vehicle while driving down Lewiston Hill. He faces aggravated assault charges, with a bond set at $500,000 by Judge Victoria Olds in Nez Perce County’s 2nd District Court. A competency evaluation has been scheduled for August 29. Witnesses reported a man in a white GMC pickup truck waving a pistol, leading to a police response.

Idaho State Police Cpl. Cory Juber stopped Johnson's vehicle and found a pistol in the center console along with multiple rifles. Johnson reportedly claimed he was shooting "warning shots" at Washington State troopers. He expressed cryptic remarks about needing a public takedown during his arrest.
