Appaloosa Horse Club moving to Oklahoma City
The Appaloosa Horse Club will relocate its headquarters to Oklahoma City this November after nearly 50 years in Moscow due to staffing challenges and rising real estate costs. President Lori Wunderlich noted that the club has seen its staff decrease from dozens to fewer than ten full-time employees. The club's former 20,000-square-foot building, located on Pullman Road, was sold to a local manufacturing company in July, prompting the move to a temporary space on Asbury Street. The Appaloosa Museum & Heritage Center will remain in Moscow, where it is finalizing a deal for a new location and preparing to showcase exhibits at the University of Idaho later this year. This decision is significant for the organization as it adapts to economic pressures in the local area and seeks to attract talent in the horse industry.
The relocation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by organizations in maintaining operations amid fluctuating real estate markets. The club's move is expected to be completed as early as November, marking a new chapter for the organization. Local stakeholders will be keenly observing how this shift impacts the broader horse community in the region.
