Chad Whetzel in the lead for Whitman County commissioner

Chad Whetzel led the Whitman County commissioner primary election with 1,288 votes, followed by Cody Finch with 466 votes and Tucker J. Senter with 428 votes. The top two candidates will advance to the general election on November 4. The first round of results posted Tuesday evening remains preliminary, as the auditor's office continues to count ballots. In Pullman, Bryan MacDonald leads for the Ward 1 City Council seat with 430 votes.

Deena Bayoumi leads the District 4 School Board race with 1,261 votes, while Stephanie A. Horn tops District 5 with 1,171 votes. Overall, Whitman County reported a voter turnout of 20. 43% with 3,961 ballots counted and approximately 100 remaining. The Lamont School District's replacement levy appears to be passing, aiming to fund educational programs.

The next ballot count will occur Friday at 5 p. m.
