The Cherry Fire near Deary has reached 10% containment and has remained stable since Thursday, covering 113 acres. It is situated in a logging area and a portion of the Nez Perce Clearwater National Forests, raising concerns about potential ecological impacts. Fortunately, no structures are currently threatened, and the Latah County Sheriff’s Office has not issued any evacuation orders. However, the National Weather Service warns of challenging weather conditions, including winds and dryness, prompting a red flag warning for fire risks. Crews have established a fireline and are utilizing aircraft to combat the flames, with 191 personnel on the ground.

Brush Creek Road remains closed to the public as safety measures are enforced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, highlighting the need for ongoing monitoring and response efforts. Local authorities continue to assess the situation to protect the community and surrounding environment.
