On Saturday, Lewiston celebrated the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney's marriage to Lillian Bounds, attracting hundreds of attendees dressed as beloved Disney characters. Mayor Dan Johnson praised Bounds as a significant role model for the community, reflecting on her contributions to the creation of Mickey Mouse. Historian Garry Bush shared insights about Bounds' journey from Spalding to Los Angeles, where she met Disney while working at his studio. The event featured a parade, live performances, and a cake honoring the couple's legacy, emphasizing a theme of "A Century of Love. " The celebration also included a presentation titled “Lillian Bounds Disney: Local Girl Makes Good” at the Lewiston Public Library.
