Portland, ORLocal News

The Portland Aquarium officially opens its doors on Friday, featuring over 100 unique cartoon marine species designed by renowned artist Mike Bennett. This immersive art experience transports visitors through six imaginative marine biomes, even without live animals. Local musician Andre Anjos, known as RAC, provides a musical backdrop, enriching the atmosphere of the exhibit. Each visitor receives a custom field guide that describes the whimsical characters on display. Hours of operation are from 11am to 8pm Sunday to Thursday and from 11am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday.

General admission costs $14, while children 12 and under pay $10, and kids under 2 enter for free. The aquarium aims to offer a family-friendly experience that blends art and education, making it a unique addition to downtown Portland. This initiative reflects the city's growing emphasis on creative and interactive cultural attractions.
