Suspect and victim identified in deadly Hillsboro hotel shooting

A shooting at the Extended Stay Hotel on Cornell Road in Hillsboro resulted in the death of 44-year-old Yuri Gonzalez-Gonzalez from Florida. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 5 p. m. on August 1, quickly confirming a homicide had occurred at the site. Police took 33-year-old Amir Heidar from Beaverton into custody, charging him with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

The relationship between Heidar and Gonzalez-Gonzalez is still under investigation, with authorities working to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident. Local officials assured residents that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. This incident marks a concerning moment for the Hillsboro community, prompting discussions about safety in local hospitality venues.
