Mayor Cherelle L. Parker Signs Kensington Mobile Services Bill

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Mayor Cherelle L. Parker signed Bill No. 240665AA, establishing regulations for mobile medical services in Kensington, Philadelphia. The legislation responds to community concerns about the impact of mobile providers, including littering and safety issues. Councilmember Quetcy Lozada, who drafted the bill, highlighted that it fulfills a long-held demand from residents for better oversight of these services.

The new permitting system will require providers to adhere to Pennsylvania state laws and operate under the supervision of healthcare practitioners. Certain mobile services, such as EMTs and dental care, are excluded from this regulation. The designated operating location includes a specific lot on E. Allegheny Avenue, with services permitted during night hours. This initiative reflects a broader effort to improve access to healthcare in vulnerable communities.

The permitting process will take effect in 60 days.
