PFD providers honored during EMS Week 2025
The Philadelphia Fire Department celebrated EMS Week by recognizing the vital contributions of its emergency medical service providers. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker issued a proclamation urging residents to appreciate the ongoing efforts of EMS personnel. Paramedic Zachary Weinstein and Firefighter-EMT Mitchell Valentin were named EMS Providers of the Year for their heroic rescue of a gunshot victim, showcasing the department's commitment to compassionate care. Other commendations were awarded to EMS members for their successful interventions in cardiac arrests and critical care scenarios.
The Regional EMS Office expressed gratitude with swag bags, while the “Meet a Medic” event aimed to foster community connections and job opportunities within the EMS field. Last year, the Philadelphia Fire Department responded to an average of 775 EMS incidents daily, highlighting the critical role these providers play in public safety. This recognition emphasizes the importance of emergency medical services in the city, fostering appreciation and potential recruitment for future EMS professionals. Additionally, the event served to strengthen the bond between the community and its emergency responders.
