Philadelphia, PALocal News

Philadelphia's Office of Clean and Green Initiatives launches the 2025 Summer One Philly, United City Citywide Cleaning Program on May 5, running for 13 weeks to improve city cleanliness. This initiative, a collaboration with city departments and nonprofits, builds on the success of previous efforts that addressed over 140,000 quality-of-life issues. Since June 2024, the program has cleaned more than 35,600 blocks and cleared over 11,000 vacant lots. Crews will mark cleaned areas with the Join the Fight logo to inform residents of the initiative's progress. The program aligns with the national movement to remove 25 billion pieces of litter by America's 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

Mayor Parker's vision aims to make Philadelphia the safest and cleanest big city in the nation. Residents are urged to participate in local beautification programs to combat litter and illegal dumping. The city's proactive strategy includes addressing illegal dumping, graffiti removal, and maintaining clean neighborhoods.
