Recapping The Boulevard Reimagined Summary of Round 1 Public Engagement

The Roosevelt Boulevard project aims to enhance safety and accessibility in North and Northeast Philadelphia through a phased approach. It consists of three specific phases: projects to be completed by 2026, traffic safety improvements by 2029, and a comprehensive redesign by 2040. The City of Philadelphia, PennDOT, and SEPTA lead the evaluation of six alternatives, utilizing various roadway and transit types. Public engagement between December 2024 and February 2025 included four open houses, an online survey, and virtual town halls, gathering 626 responses. Participants provided input on project goals and roadway design to meet everyday needs, informing the scoring and ranking of each alternative.

A total of 235 attendees engaged in the meetings, highlighting community involvement in the planning process. This initiative reflects a commitment to improving local infrastructure and transit services, addressing longstanding safety issues on Roosevelt Boulevard. Ultimately, the project aims to reshape the roadway and transit experience for residents by 2040.
