City officials and community members celebrated the opening of the $16. 8 million renovated Rivera Recreation Center and Mann Older Adult Center in Fairhill. The project, part of the City’s Rebuild initiative, aims to improve community access to high-quality recreational facilities. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker stated that this investment underscores the city’s commitment to providing safe, clean spaces for all residents.

Renovations include multipurpose rooms, new computer labs, and a natural grass multisport field, supported by a $200,000 contribution from the Philadelphia Eagles. Councilmember Quetcy Lozada expressed appreciation for the community's patience throughout the renovation process, emphasizing the center's role as a hub for connection and activity. The renovation enhances programming options from arts to sports, making it one of the largest completed projects under the Rebuild initiative. The investment not only improves infrastructure but aims to foster community engagement and resilience. This reflects a strategic effort to revitalize public spaces and promote well-being in underserved neighborhoods.
