Rebuild Philadelphia, City and State Officials, and Community Ventures Celebrate Groundbreaking on 1.9 Million Investment at Piccoli Playground

Rebuild Philadelphia, Councilmember Quetcy Lozada, and local officials broke ground on a $1. 9 million renovation of Piccoli Playground in Juniata Park. The project, made possible through the city's Rebuild program and Community Ventures, aims to enhance this long-standing community hub. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker emphasized the significance of such investments in uplifting local neighborhoods and ensuring residents see their tax dollars at work.

Councilmember Lozada noted the playground's historical importance to generations of residents. The improvements will feature new seating areas, updated sport courts, and ADA-compliant facilities. Additional funding from the Department of Economic and Community Development will support these enhancements. This renovation is part of a larger $500 million initiative targeting neighborhood parks and recreation centers throughout Philadelphia. Community Ventures, a local non-profit, will oversee the project, ensuring that community input shapes the upgrades.
