ACHIEVEabilitys Impact Day returns to beautify West Philly neighborhoods

Philadelphia, PALocal News

On April 25, ACHIEVEability will host its second Impact Day, mobilizing over 500 volunteers to enhance West Philadelphia neighborhoods. Sponsored by URBN, the event targets the restoration of homes and public spaces, focusing on the 5400 to 6300 blocks of Market Street to Haverford Avenue. Last year, volunteers rehabilitated 52 homes and beautified over 50 blocks, demonstrating a significant community impact. This year, the initiative aims to revitalize 150 homes, install additional mini-libraries, and restore green spaces. Activities will include street cleaning, gardening, and the creation of Mother’s Day cards.

Jamila Harris-Morrison highlighted the importance of community collaboration in achieving these goals. ACHIEVEability raised $250,000 in 2024 and aims for $300,000 in 2025 to expand its anti-poverty programs. Volunteer opportunities are open to residents and corporate teams, with options for online donations as well.
