Philadelphia, PALocal News

Irv's Ice Cream has officially opened its first storefront on East Passyunk Avenue, focusing on small-batch, custard-based ice cream made from nearly all homemade ingredients. Chef Ilissa Shapiro, who boasts over 15 years in the culinary field, highlights the personal touch that sets her brand apart. Popular flavors include sweet corn, which surprises customers with its authenticity, and Cookie Monster. The shop plans to introduce new vegan options and seasonal flavors, with ice cream novelties like sandwiches and cakes expected by summer. Additionally, a Flakely's pastry ATM will offer gluten-free baked goods, enhancing the venue's appeal.

Shapiro envisions future collaborations with local brands to further enrich the menu. Irv's operates Monday through Thursday from 3 to 10 p. m. , with extended hours anticipated around Father's Day. The brand also maintains a presence at Cherry Street Pier for the duration of 2025.
