El Departamento de Salud emite una notificacin sobre una posible exposicin al sarampin

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health has issued a warning about potential measles exposure at the Pennsylvania Hospital and Holy Redeemer Hospital on April 6 and April 8, 2025, respectively. The case was traced back to international travel and is not associated with any current outbreaks in the western states. Dr. Palak Raval-Nelson reassured the public that the risk remains low due to high vaccination rates in Philadelphia. However, with declining vaccination rates nationwide, there is an increased risk for unvaccinated individuals.

Dr. Mayssa Abuali emphasized that the MMR vaccine is 97% effective in preventing measles and provides lifelong immunity. Those who may have been exposed are advised to quarantine for 21 days and to monitor for symptoms such as fever, cough, and rash. The health department encourages anyone who is unvaccinated to seek vaccination as a preventive measure. This proactive approach aims to sustain community immunity and protect vulnerable populations.
