The buzz on Viva Abejas A delicious initiative at Aqimero for bees

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Chef Richard Sandoval's Viva Abejas initiative at Aqimero is a culinary celebration that emphasizes the importance of bees in our food system. By offering a unique menu that includes dishes like Coconut Tuna Ceviche and cocktails such as the Honey Lavender Margarita, the initiative promotes sustainability and environmental education. Running through April 22, the program invites Philadelphians to savor seasonal flavors while raising awareness about pollinators. The Boozy Tea Experience on April 12-13 will further enhance the connection between food and environmental advocacy, featuring crafted tea cocktails and live DJ entertainment. Proceeds from the initiative will benefit The World Bee Project, which works to protect and restore bee populations worldwide.

Sandoval highlights the dependency of many key ingredients, such as avocados and citrus, on pollinators, stressing the need for their preservation. The program has also established beehives across the U. S. and in Mexico, supporting sustainable sourcing practices. By adopting a beehive through Free Range Beehive, patrons can actively contribute to the restoration of local bee populations and promote biodiversity.
