The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts are launching the Marian Anderson Artistic Initiative, celebrating the life and legacy of the renowned contralto and civil rights icon Marian Anderson. The initiative will commence on September 26, 2024, with the world premiere of Terence Blanchard's *Orchestral Suite from Fire Shut Up in My Bones*, performed at the newly named Marian Anderson Hall. President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky highlighted the importance of Anderson's legacy in shaping a season dedicated to inclusivity and diversity in the performing arts. The initiative will feature a variety of performances throughout the 2024-25 season, including works by significant composers such as William Grant Still and Florence Price. Other premieres will include Gabriela Lena Frank's *Picaflor* and Barbara Assiginaak’s *Eko-Bmijwang*, showcasing a commitment to represent diverse voices in music.

This initiative not only honors Anderson's contributions but also aims to inspire future generations of artists.
