Reminder: SEPTA parking fees return beginning Monday

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Starting Monday, SEPTA will reintroduce parking fees at its Regional Rail stations after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new pricing structure will see most stations charging $2, while select garages at Frankford, Norristown, and Lansdale will require $4 for parking. The phased rollout begins with enforcement at locations such as Jenkintown-Wyncote and Fern Rock Transportation Center, with all lots expected to be operational by November 6. Riders can utilize the SEPTA Park app or pay at kiosks, marking a shift from the previously used coin slot boxes. This change aims to generate approximately $4 million annually, which SEPTA officials state will help maintain parking facilities amidst a looming $240 million annual budget deficit.

Without additional state funding, SEPTA may face service cuts or fare increases. Detailed instructions will be provided at stations to ensure compliance with new enforcement measures, which will utilize vehicle-mounted cameras. Parking will remain free during weekends and holidays to encourage ridership.
