Students in Sunrise of Philadelphia’s Out-of-School Time (OST) programs participated in a hands-on paper weaving project that highlights Indigenous heritage. The project is part of a month-long celebration aimed at exploring art and identity, designed to foster creativity and cultural expression. Participants learned traditional weaving techniques while sharing their cultural stories through their creations. The initiative is overseen by the Office of Children and Families, which emphasizes the importance of cultural education in youth programs. Engaging in such activities promotes awareness and appreciation of Indigenous cultures within the community.

The program aims to strengthen community ties by connecting students with their heritage. In addition to artistic skills, participants gain insights into the historical significance of weaving in Indigenous communities.
