City Announces the Return of Kensington Nuisance Fire Task Force
Philadelphia's Kensington Nuisance Fire Task Force will relaunch this winter to tackle the rising incidence of rubbish fires in the area. Established in 2024, the Task Force focuses on extinguishing fires, clearing debris, and connecting residents to social services. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker emphasized the initiative's importance in ensuring the safety of residents during the cold months. The Task Force aims to reduce fire incidents by 20% this season through improved coordination and streamlined operations.
It includes staff from Merakey providing essential social services, a specialized fire apparatus, and police representatives for safety.
