What do you want for Philadelphias future? Planning Commission launches survey to update the Citys comprehensive plan
The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is actively seeking input from residents to shape the city’s future through a survey consisting of nine open-ended questions. These questions address critical issues such as safety, economic opportunity, housing, transportation, climate impacts, and neighborhood health. The collected responses will help establish priorities for the Philadelphia2050 comprehensive plan update, which is essential for guiding community development and urban planning. Residents can participate by completing a Vision Survey online or visiting one of several designated locations, including libraries and recreation centers. The comprehensive plan functions as a crucial resource for city planners, influencing their professional recommendations on development matters.
The current update builds on the insights from the Philadelphia2035 plan, completed in 2011, ensuring that community voices remain central to future urban strategies. This initiative reflects the Planning Commission's commitment to keeping the comprehensive plan current, as mandated by the Philadelphia Home Rule Charter. Engaging with residents now will inform the city’s direction over the next several decades.
