City launches public survey to update the long-range plan for Philadelphia
The Philadelphia City Planning Commission launched a survey to gather community input for the Philadelphia2050: Planning Together initiative, aimed at updating the city's comprehensive plan. The survey includes nine open-ended questions covering topics like safety, housing, and transportation, allowing residents to express their visions for the future. Executive Director Octavia Howell highlighted the initiative as a vital opportunity for citizens to influence city planning intentionally. The survey will remain open until January 30, 2026, and residents can participate online or at in-person events throughout Philadelphia. Two virtual information sessions are scheduled for December 2025 to provide further details about the planning process.
Key locations for in-person participation include libraries and recreation centers across the city. Responses to the survey will help shape the planning commission's priorities in the comprehensive plan update. This effort underscores the commission's commitment to engaging with residents in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive Philadelphia.
