Philadelphia Department of Revenue Warns of Spoof Website Scam

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The Philadelphia Department of Revenue warns residents about a fraudulent website, “myphillywaterbill. com,” which imitates the official water bill payment portal. Scammers employ domain spoofing techniques to trick users into divulging personal information. The legitimate site, MyPhillyWaterBill, uses “. gov” or “.

org” extensions, contrasting with the fake site. Customers are urged to visit phila. gov/pay or phila. gov/revenue for secure access to the city’s payment portal, requiring a nine-digit Water Access Code from their bills. Payments made via eCheck are free, while credit and debit card transactions incur standard processing fees.

The Department reassures Philadelphia’s water customers that online payments are secure and efficient. To protect against phishing scams, residents should remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. For assistance, they can contact the FBI or visit the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s website for information on identifying scams.
