Philadelphia Launches Virtual Inspections App, Ushering in a New Era of Building Safety and Service Delivery

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Philadelphia's Virtual Inspection Program launched on October 22, 2025, revolutionizing building safety inspections through the Virtual Inspections Application (VIA). Customers can now conduct selected inspections remotely, connecting with certified inspectors via their mobile devices. This innovation enhances safety by reducing in-person contact, thereby minimizing exposure to illnesses. It also boosts efficiency, allowing more inspections to be completed each day, which is crucial for managing the city's growing construction demands. The program covers various inspections, including window installations and electrical audits, and is offered at no extra cost to permit holders.

All inspection requests must be submitted by 8:00 a. m. for scheduling the next business day. This strategic leap not only improves customer convenience but also aligns with sustainability goals by reducing vehicle use and carbon emissions. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative is set to become a permanent fixture in the city's service delivery framework.
