Philadelphia Goes High-Tech with Virtual Inspections Heres How It Works

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Philadelphia's new Virtual Inspection Program revolutionizes building inspections by allowing remote completion via smartphones. This innovative approach connects contractors and property owners with certified inspectors for real-time guidance during inspections. The program facilitates inspections for a variety of projects, including window installations and electrical audits, through the City’s eCLIPSE portal or by phone. By reducing in-person visits, the program prioritizes safety and health while improving efficiency, enabling inspectors to manage more appointments daily. Additionally, the initiative contributes to environmental sustainability by decreasing vehicle emissions.

Originating from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program aims to enhance Philadelphia’s building safety services permanently. Virtual inspections come as part of the permit fee, ensuring no additional costs for users. Interested parties can schedule inspections by submitting requests by 8:00 a. m. for next-business-day service.
