Rebuild Celebrates A New Chapter in Southwest Philadelphia with the 13.2 Million Renovation of Paschalville Library
Philadelphia celebrated the reopening of Paschalville Library after a $13. 2 million renovation funded by the City’s Rebuild program. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker highlighted the library's long-standing role as a community cornerstone since its establishment in 1915. The renovation, which included a $200,000 donation from the Knight Foundation, modernized the facility with state-of-the-art technology and improved accessibility.
City Council President Kenyatta Johnson emphasized the importance of the library in empowering local youth and fostering community engagement. The project featured extensive upgrades, such as new HVAC systems, ADA-compliant facilities, and redesigned community spaces. This renovation marks the sixth library completed under the Rebuild initiative, which has invested over $37 million in Philadelphia’s library system in 2025. The transformation aims to merge the library's historic character with modern resources, supporting various programs like skills training and reading circles. Officials believe this investment will benefit the community for generations to come.
