Rebuild Celebrates A New Chapter in Southwest Philadelphia with the 13.2 Million Renovation of Paschalville Library
The Capital Program Office, along with Philadelphia officials and community members, inaugurated the newly renovated Paschalville Library, a significant milestone in the city’s Rebuild program. The $13. 2 million renovation modernizes the historic Carnegie library, which has served the Southwest Philadelphia community since 1915. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker emphasized the project as a critical investment in both the facility and the individuals it serves, fostering community cohesion.
The extensive upgrades include ADA compliance, new HVAC and security systems, and dedicated spaces for various programs. Joanna McClinton, Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, noted the library's role in providing opportunities for youth. The project received additional funding from the Knight Foundation and local donors, reflecting a community-driven approach to enhancing public resources. This renovation marks the sixth library to be revitalized under the Rebuild initiative this year, contributing to over $37 million in investments in Philadelphia’s library system. By blending historic character with modern amenities, the Paschalville Library aims to support robust programming and community engagement for generations to come.
