Rebuild Celebrates A New Chapter in Southwest Philadelphia with the 13.2 Million Renovation of Paschalville Library
Philadelphia officials inaugurated the newly renovated Paschalville Library, a project that received $13. 2 million through the City’s Rebuild program. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker highlighted the library's historical significance as a community cornerstone for over a century. Local leaders, including City Council President Kenyatta Johnson, expressed excitement about the modern amenities and opportunities the library will provide for youth.
The extensive renovation includes ADA upgrades, new HVAC systems, and a media hub supported by a donation from the Knight Foundation. Community programming and resources will now be more accessible, bridging the library's legacy with 21st-century needs. The project also received additional funding from the Department of Community and Economic Development and private donations. This renovation marks the sixth library transformation completed by the Rebuild program in 2025, which has invested over $37 million in the city's library system this year. The initiative reflects Philadelphia's commitment to modernizing public spaces while honoring historical architecture.
