Free Trainings for Therapists on Children Exposed to Domestic Violence

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The Safer Futures conference in August 2025 trained over 50 therapists to support children exposed to domestic violence. Hosted by Shared Safety at the CHOP Center for Violence Prevention, the sold-out event emphasized best practices for clinical intervention and support for survivor-parents. Local and regional experts led the training, making it a significant professional development opportunity. Participants can access recorded sessions, including an overview of domestic violence, on the TRAIN Learning Network, which offers free continuing education credits. This initiative underscores the critical need for specialized training to help therapists address trauma that remains unresolved within family dynamics.

Improving health and human services for survivors and their children remains a priority for Shared Safety. The integration of trauma-informed practices can enhance therapeutic outcomes and support family healing. Increased awareness and training in this area are essential for fostering safer environments for vulnerable children.
