PCHR celebrates individuals working for a fair, equitable Philly
The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) will hold its Social Justice Awards Luncheon on October 16, 2025, recognizing individuals and organizations dedicated to combating discrimination and promoting human rights. Categories include Community Service, Arts & Culture, Law Enforcement/Public Service, and the newly introduced David T. Rammler Award for Fair Housing. Muhammad Abdul-Hadi will receive the Community Service award for founding Down North Pizza, a restaurant that employs formerly incarcerated individuals and aims to reduce recidivism. Madelyn Morrison, Director of Programs at the Attic Youth Center, will be honored for her 25 years of activism focused on empowering marginalized communities.
PCHR Executive Director Renee Chenault-Fattah highlighted the significance of tangible action over social media engagement. The awards reflect Philadelphia’s core values of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, encouraging community upliftment. The event will be hosted by Good Day Philadelphia anchor Shaynah Ferreira in the Skyline Room of the Free Library. This year’s winners exemplify the commitment to social justice and community improvement.
