Philly launches 5-in-1 property tax relief application

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Philadelphia's new initiative allows homeowners to apply for five distinct property tax relief programs through a single application, enhancing accessibility. The Homestead Exemption offers a reduction of up to $1,399 on annual tax bills, while the Longtime Owner Occupants Program caps assessed property values to limit future tax increases. The Low-Income Tax Freeze and Senior Tax Freeze ensure that eligible residents can maintain their tax bills at previous levels, adjusting for any decreases in property value or tax rates. The Real Estate Tax Installment Plan provides an option for homeowners to pay their bills in manageable installments without incurring interest or penalties. This combined application streamlines the process, reducing the paperwork burden on residents.

Each program maintains its own deadlines and requirements, ensuring that homeowners receive the appropriate relief. Philadelphia aims to enroll as many residents as possible in these programs, promoting financial stability for homeowners. Interested residents can access the application through the Philadelphia Tax Center.
