Annual Clean Block Contest Is Back

The Clean Block Contest in Philadelphia runs from September 13 to October 11, with judging scheduled on five Saturdays. This annual event showcases the hard work of volunteer block captains from approximately 6,600 registered blocks. Judges assess each block based on organization, cleanliness, improvements, and community participation. Four blocks will earn cash prizes, including $1,000 for the top winner, alongside $700, $500, and $300 for the other top spots. Additionally, all remaining participating blocks will receive $150 to support their clean-up initiatives.

The contest serves as a culmination of the cleaning season, highlighting the community's commitment to beautifying their neighborhoods. Local leaders emphasize the importance of these efforts in fostering pride and engagement among residents.
