Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee Hosts 2025 Clean Block Contest

The 2025 Clean Block Contest in Philadelphia, organized by the More Beautiful Committee, kicks off judging on September 27. The initiative, led by Sanitation Commissioner Crystal Jacobs Shipman, showcases the hard work of 39,000 volunteers who cleaned 7,967 blocks this season. Judges will evaluate 26 blocks based on criteria such as organization and cleanliness, chosen from a pool of 6,600 registered blocks. PMBC's efforts resulted in the collection of over 21,000 bags of debris, amounting to nearly 970,880 pounds removed from the streets. Judging sessions are scheduled for three Saturdays in September and October, starting at 9:30 a.
