3 from No. 1 in 2024, while Harrisburg and Pittsburgh ranked No. 15 and No. 44, respectively. The report reveals that September is the peak month for asthma attacks, driven by increased pollen, mold, and poor indoor air quality in schools.

Many Pennsylvania schools lack effective indoor air quality plans, with less than 4% having one in place, contributing to asthma triggers. There is a growing concern over the affordability of asthma medications, with some inhalers capped at $35, yet many patients still face high costs for other types of medication. Lawmakers are urged to impose price caps on asthma medications and improve air quality in schools to address these issues.
