Montgomery County's Board of Commissioners has established its first Human Relations Commission to address discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations. The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) welcomed this development, stressing its importance in enhancing the collective fight for civil rights across Pennsylvania. PCHR Chairman Kareem E. Thomas stated that this commission expands their ability to promote equity in the Greater Philadelphia area. Executive Director Renee Chenault-Fattah emphasized that supporting civil and human rights is essential for democracy and community trust.

The PCHR provides mediation and conflict resolution services, aiming to empower residents to resolve disputes peacefully. This move reflects a growing commitment to racial justice within local governments.
