This event showcased the nearly completed $15+ million renovation as part of the City’s Rebuild initiative, which aims to improve community spaces across Philadelphia. Councilmember Jamie Gauthier highlighted the collaboration between residents and city officials as critical to the project's success. Participants received an exclusive preview of the facility before its official opening in the fall. Director Aparna Palantino stated that the project empowers residents to foster a sense of shared ownership and environmental stewardship.

The renovation includes significant upgrades, such as ADA accessibility improvements and extensive landscaping. Partnerships with organizations like Fairmount Park Conservancy play a vital role in maintaining the new greenery through community volunteer events. This site is one of four Rebuild projects in Cobbs Creek, totaling $30 million in investment.
