Low-Income Tax Freeze deadline is now September 30

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The City Council of Philadelphia extended the application deadline for the Low-Income Real Estate Tax Freeze to September 30, 2025, allowing homeowners more time to secure financial relief. The program freezes property tax bills at the previous year's amount, protecting qualifying homeowners from future increases. To qualify, individuals must have an annual income of $33,500 or less, while couples must earn $41,500 or less. Applicants can enroll online without needing a username or password, streamlining the process and reducing errors. Homeowners may also apply for the Homestead Exemption, further lowering their tax bills.

The initiative, created in 2024, aims to make property taxes more manageable for vulnerable homeowners and keep them in their homes despite rising property values. The Department of Revenue encourages residents to spread the word about this extension to help neighbors take advantage of the program. Homeowners should ensure they apply before the September 30 deadline.
