Streets Department Announces Construction to Begin on Traffic Calming Around Overbrook Educational Center

The Streets Department will initiate construction for the Overbrook Educational Center Project starting September 8, 2025. This project focuses on Media Street, Haverford Avenue, and 68th Street, implementing traffic calming measures such as speed cushions and upgraded signage. Fully funded by the Transportation Alternative Set Aside (TASA) program, the $1. 2 million project aims to improve safety and traffic flow around the educational center. Marino Corporation has been awarded the construction contract, and the projected completion date is February 2026.

Temporary “No Parking” signs will be placed in advance of work activities, and residents may need to relocate vehicles as necessary. The Streets Department encourages drivers to slow down and follow all detours during the construction period. This project is significant for local traffic management and aims to enhance the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike. Increased traffic safety measures are aligned with broader city initiatives to improve urban transportation infrastructure.
