Spotlight on City Workers Stories of service across Philadelphia

The Office of Human Resources, with help from the Mayor’s Internship Program, expanded its Spotlight on City Workers series to feature dedicated municipal employees in Philadelphia. Interns Anfisa Blyumina and Kai Moore interviewed nearly a dozen public servants, gaining a deeper understanding of city operations and community needs. Joelle Anderson from the Police Assisted Diversion Unit articulated the importance of providing immediate resources to individuals affected by various social issues. In the Capital Program Office, Monique Turner and Roy Conard discussed their long-standing careers and the impact of their work on public facilities across the city. The series not only showcases individual stories but also emphasizes the collective effort required to maintain city operations.

Blyumina highlighted her skill development in video editing and interviewing through the project. The initiative fosters community engagement and sheds light on the often-overlooked roles within municipal departments. By sharing these stories, the series aims to connect residents with the public servants who contribute to their well-being.
