The Cohocksink Recreation Center in Port Richmond reopened after a $4. 45 million renovation, part of the City’s Rebuild program which aims to invest over $500 million in local parks and recreation facilities. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker stated that the center provides safe spaces for youth to play and learn. The renovation features modern amenities such as an expanded playground, upgraded basketball courts, and improved security measures.

Councilmember Mark Squilla emphasized the significance of recreation centers as community hubs. The year-long project was a collaborative effort between the city, Rebuild Philadelphia, and local residents, ensuring the new design reflected community needs. Additional funding was secured from state agencies, showcasing a strong commitment to revitalizing public spaces. The upgrades aim to foster quality programming and enhance community engagement.
