Dugan accepts GOP nod, will face Krasner in district attorneys race

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Pat Dugan, the former Municipal Court Judge, has accepted the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent District Attorney Larry Krasner in the November 4 general election. After losing in the Democratic primary, Dugan gained Republican support through a write-in campaign that garnered over 6,400 votes. He criticized Krasner's policies, alleging they have contributed to increased crime, lawlessness, and a failure to support victims. Dugan stated, “He has virtually legalized shoplifting, tolerated illegal firearms, and turned a blind eye to the trafficking of women and the poisoning of our communities. ” In the Democratic primary, Krasner significantly outperformed Dugan, winning by a vote share of 64% to 36%.

With nearly six registered Democrats for every Republican in Philadelphia, Dugan faces an uphill battle. Republican leaders view Dugan's candidacy as a critical opportunity to present a viable alternative to Krasner's approach to law enforcement. Dugan's campaign promises to enforce the law fairly, regardless of the defendant's status.
