Open Streets West Walnut returns with pedestrian-only fun

The upcoming Open Streets: West Walnut program in Philadelphia will span six Sundays from September 7 to October 12, marking its second year. Nearly 90% of local businesses observed increased foot traffic during the inaugural season, with some reporting rises as high as 300%. This initiative promotes pedestrian activity while supporting the local economy by converting streets into public gathering spaces. Street closures will be in effect from 7 a. m.

to 6 p. m. , with pedestrian activities scheduled from 10 a. m. to 5 p.

m. Businesses along the route are expected to offer exclusive discounts and entertainment to draw crowds. The program aims to enhance the vibrancy of Center City, contributing to its retail and restaurant success. Additional attractions will include family-friendly activities and live performances.
