City of Philadelphia Announces Implementation of New Traffic Pattern on 47th Street to Begin Monday, August 11

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The City of Philadelphia's Department of Streets announced the immediate implementation of a new one-way traffic pattern on 47th Street, starting August 11. Crews will conduct line striping work, leading to temporary daytime road closures as they progress block by block. The new configuration includes a northbound lane for vehicles, a parking-separated bike lane, and speed tables to enhance safety. Traffic signs will be updated following the completion of line striping, a process aimed at reducing roadway complexity and improving safety for all users. The initiative is a result of public outreach by the Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems and local officials.

The changes also introduce new loading zones and all-way stop intersections at key points. The 47th Street bike lane will complement the existing bike lane on 48th Street. City officials urge drivers to pay attention and follow all detours during the transition to the new traffic pattern.
