The City of Philadelphia Department of Streets Announces Construction Detours for Market Street

The Philadelphia Department of Streets will close the westbound lane of Market Street from 2nd to 6th Streets for up to three months, starting August 4. Westbound traffic will be diverted to Arch Street, while eastbound traffic will have limited access. Construction will include new curbs, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and a bike lane. Access to businesses and residences will remain available throughout the project, which also involves temporary loading areas. SEPTA L Stations at 2nd and 5th Streets will stay open, although some bus stops may be impacted.
