PECO launches 10M relief fund to help customers with summer energy bills

Philadelphia, PALocal News

PECO launched a $10 million Customer Relief Fund to assist residents with rising summer energy bills, targeting low- and moderate-income households. Eligible customers can apply for a one-time grant of $500 starting August 4, with the fund administered by the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. PECO President David Vahos highlighted the initiative's importance in light of overall inflation pressures impacting local families. To qualify for assistance, applicants must have past-due balances and a household income between 151% and 300% of the federal poverty level. This funding aims to support those who often fall between the cracks of traditional assistance programs.

In 2024, PECO connected 140,000 customers with energy assistance, delivering over $170 million in aid. Additional resources, including energy assistance finders and online tools, are available to help customers manage their energy usage. This initiative reinforces PECO’s commitment to providing affordable energy solutions and addressing community needs.
